A safety-belt winding device with a tension suppressor comprises a safety-belt receiving shaft (16), a return spring (18), a first rotatable part (30) which is rotatable together with the safety-belt receiving shaft, a second rotatable part (38) which is rotatable about the first rotatable part, the relative rotation between the first and the second rotatable part being inhibited, a helical spring (46) for pretensioning the first and second rotatable part for rotation in opposite directions, a stop device (62, 76, 90, 102) for causing the second rotatable part to assume a state in which it is rotatable in one direction, a state with complete locking and a state of free rotation, a regulating device (48, 54, 58, 60, 56, 80b) for regulating the stop device in such a way that, when the first part rotates in one direction, the second rotatable part in the first state is shifted into the third state and, when the first rotatable part rotates in the other direction, the second rotatable part in the third state is shifted into the second state, and a belt-buckle switch (SW1) for regulating the stop device, in such a way that, when the safety belt assumes a position for restraining a person occupying the seat, the second rotatable part assumes the first state. <IMAGE>
