Heated platen for bonding conveyor belt ends - embedded resistance heaters sensors and thermostats provide close temperative control

A pressure platen, for hot bonding at least two ends of materials, partic. conveyor belt ends, has internally embedded heating elements, it is subdivided into zones, each with an element, and each zone is individually monitored for its temp. with sensors/thermostats. Close efficient temp. control, simple design is obtd.; suitable for remote use e.g. underground. Pref. the appts. comprises a portable platen with a frame and three zones containing three central heating elements which are connected to a supply. The first segment has a resistance temp. sensor near the connection, the segments have thermostats located at the centre of the platen.
