Nonwoven interlining - is fixed by a bonding agent before needling to give a filmy surface

The loose fibre blanket, of staple and/or continuous filament fibres, is treated with a bonding agent at the rate of 5-30 weight per cent of the fibre weight, with additional bonding fibres in the blend. Felting needles are then applied on one or both sides at a rate of 20-100 stitches/cm2. The stitch insertion depth is controlled so that a filmy surface is formed on the side opposite to the needle entry. The process gives a lightweight and soft non-woven interlining with good mechanical characteristics which accepts washing and chemical dry cleaning.
