In the production of products of large dimensions from a thermoplastic material, first a preproduct corresponding to the finished product in shape and dimensions is preformed by injecting the thermoplastic material into a press mould which is temperature-controlled such that parts of this preproduct, in particular a surrounding edge, are solidified by cooling, whereas the remaining parts of the preproduct are still plastic. This preproduct which is still partly plastic is then transferred, for finishing, to a further moulding station in which the plastic parts are finish-moulded by blowing and/or suction, without further heating.
