PURPOSE:To improve the resolution in high chroma saturation video, by separating a primary signal into low and high frequency components, and changing the amplification factor for the high frequency component. CONSTITUTION:Since a red signal R' among three primary signals R', G', B' transmitted from a matrix circuit 3 includes a low frequency component thereof and the high frequency component of luminance signal, these are separated at filters 9r, 13r. In this case, the high frequency component of the red signal included in the high frequency component of the luminance signal has greater energy near the part where the low frequency compnent of the red signal changes. By using it, a control signal is generated from a control signal generating circuit 12r corresponding to the vicinity of the part where the low frequency component of the red signal outputted from the filter 13r changes, this signal increases the amplification degree of a variable amplification factor amplifying circuit 11r, and the high frequency component of the luminance signal picked up at the filter 9r is amplified. The same processing is made for other signals G' and B'. |
