Indole derivs - from 4-hydroxy indole derivs, epihalohydrin and sec amine

Cpds. of gen. formula (I): where R1 = methyl, cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, 3-cyanopropyl, 3-phenylpropyl, ethyl, isopropyl, propyl, sec. butyl, tert. butyl, tert. pentyl, 3-pentyl; R2 = h, methyl or ethyl; and their acid-addn. salts are prepd. by reacting a cpd. (IIa): where X = F, Cl, Br or I; or mixtures of (IIa) and (IIb) with a cpd. (III): H2N-R1. Cpds. (II) are prepd. by reacting a 4-hydroxy indole deriv as a salt or in the presence of a base, with epihalohydrins. (I) have adrenergic beta-reactor blocking activity.
