<p>Exercising equipment on which a user simulates the climbing of a flight of stairs. Two steps (40, Figure 1, not shown) are slidable in anti-phase up and down a side-by-side pair of inclined tracks, and are interconnected by a strap 60A, 60B of nylon webbing to ensure the antiphase movement. The strap slides frictionally through a guide arrangement 72, 74, 76, 78 at the top of the tracks to absorb the work done by the user of the equipment. The guide arrangement is adjustable to vary the amount of friction, by moving guide 76 around which the strap is deflected to vary the angle of wrap about the guides. The guide arrangement also includes a roller guide with limited freedom to be rotated by the strap; this guide actuates a stroke counter 119. The tracks are supported at their upper ends by a rear frame, and the tracks and rear frame can be collapsed together for storage; the steps are also collapsible for storage. <IMAGE></p> |
