PURPOSE:To offer a means of checking the surface quality of a magnetic recording medium, magnetic material dispersibility in the magnetic layer, etc., by utilizing a digital memory means. CONSTITUTION:The playback signal 21 obtained continuously by a magnetic head which scans on recording tracks 1-6 of a magnetic recording body T in a desired direction is supplied to an envelope detector 22 to obtain an envelope 23. Then, the envelope is converted into a digital signal 25 by an A/D converter 24 and the digital signal 25 based upon the tracks 1-6 is inputted to two digital memories 30 and 31 successively as much as one screen by a repetitive synchronizing signal 28 generating a horizontal synchronizing signal requred for a standard TV system. The stored signal is read out on the basis of a clock signal obtained from a digital memory readout controlling part 33 and then converted by a D/A converter 38 into an analog signal; and a signal 40 expanded by a signal 23 obtained by adding a television composite synchronizing signal 35 to the analog signal is displayed on a TV or copied corresponding to two-dimensional positions on the recording screen of the said recording medium. |
