There is described a method for the prevention or inhibition of gastric acid secretion, and/or the treatment of conditions involving excess gastric acid secretion, which method comprises administration of a compound of the formula I, <IMAGE> I or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof (as active ingredient), to a patient having, or liable to have, excess gastric acid secretion and/or a condition involving excess gastric acid secretion, or in whom a reduction in gastric acid secretion is desired.
