PURPOSE:To detect leakage in the wall of a liquid storage tank without removing a liquid in the tank, by a method wherein the part where a leak is found is separated from the remaining liquid storage space, and a leak current is amplified, so that it is measured with a current flow meter. CONSTITUTION:A tank formed with side walls 1 and a bottom wall 2 of concrete, that is, a pool 2 is filled with water up to a liquid level 4. When, for instance, a damaged part exists in a lining 6, water in a detection box 20 leaks out in the side wall 1 through the damaged part 8. Consequently, there occurs a water current flowing out of the detection box 20 into an internal space 28 in the passage 31 of a nozzle 30. The current speed is measured by a detecting pointer 40 and a current flow meter 45 exposed to the current. In other words, the presence of a leak and its magnitude can readily be detected through the measurement of the current speed. |
