The novel imidazole derivatives correspond to the formula <IMAGE> in which R, R<1> and p have the meanings given in Patent Claim 1, and m is 0, 1 or 2. To prepare the compounds of formula I, wherein m is 0, a compound of formula: <IMAGE> is reacted with a compound of formula RSH. X denotes a group which can be split off. To prepare compounds of formula I, wherein m represents 1 or 2, a) a compound of formula II is reacted with a compound of formula RSH and b) the resulting compound of formula I, wherein m represents O, is oxidised. m conforms to the conditions specified for q in Patent Claim 7. The compounds of formula I are obtained in the form of their free base or of its acid addition salts. These can be converted into one another. An agent for inhibiting the growth of fungi or bacteria in plants or in agricultural or industrial products contains a compound of formula I as active ingredient, mixed with a carrier. The compounds of formula I possess, quite generally, an antifungal and antibacterial action and can also be used for pharmaceutical purposes. |
