PURPOSE:To provide a dot printer suitable for a printer, etc. only for receiving use, in which an ink ribbon shunting mechanism and a platen position selecting mechanism are provided, and a platen partly impregnated with ink is employed, so that both surfaces of a piece of paper are printed with ease. CONSTITUTION:The platen 3 is divided into several sections, so that sections 3a impregnated with ink and sections 3b not impregnated with ink and sections 3b not impregnated with ink are alternatively arranged. When the surface 1a of the paper 1 is desired to be printed, the section 3b of the plate 3 and an ink ribbon 2 are positioned opposite to a printing wire 5 of the printing head 4, and when the undersurface 1b of the paper 1 is desired to be printed, the section 3a of the platen 3 is positioned opposite to the printing wire 5 of the printing head 4, and in addition the ink ribbon 2 is retreated. The operations of the retreating mechanism and the selecting mechanism are mechanically timed. |
