PURPOSE:To achieve the high efficiency by providing a slate section parallel with the tube axis and satisfying the predetermined length requirement on the inner wall of a drift tube at the collector side of an output cavity thereby preventing the inversion of the low speed electron in the proximity of the drift tube. CONSTITUTION:In a multicavity crystron coupled with a pluraity of drift tubes for passing the electron beam, a slate section 9 parallel with the tube axis is provided on the inner wall of the drift tube 7 at the collector 3 side of an output cavity 6. Assuming the length of the slate section of the drift tube 7 is L while the inner diameter of the drift tube 7 is (d), the length of the slate section 9 is determined to satisfy the requirement L>=2d. Consequently the potential dell formed by the space charge of the electron beam is made shallow to prevent the inversion of the low speed electron produced in the proximity of the drift tube 7, while since the drift tube is symmetrical against the axis the high efficiency can be achieved without the deterioration of the high frequency characteristic. |
