PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head which is capable of the high density recording and the high sensitivity reproducing in a vertical magnetic recording system. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head 11 includes a U-shaped ferrite core 13 wound with a winding 14 plus a main magnetic pole 16 and an auxiliary magnetic pole 16 having the faces opposite to a recording medium respectively. The core 13 can be made of a thin film magnetic material at the side of the pole 15 and a bulk magnetic material at the side of the pole 16 instead of one and same material. The length L1 of the pole 15 is set small enough to ensure the concentration of magnetic flux; while the length L2 of the pole 16 is set large enough to avoid the concentration of magnetic flux respectively. It is better to form the corner part 17 of the pole 16 into a curved surface to avoid the local concentration of magnetic flux. The magnetic flux starts the head 11 and returns to the head 11 after passing through a recording medium 12. The magnetic field of the pole 16 is small since the area opposite to the medium 12, and accordingly the recording is carried out at the position of the pole 15. |
