PURPOSE:To eliminate programs which perform conversion of data type and to improve the speed of information processing time and, at the same time, to simplify the programing procedure, by automatically performing operations between data of different types. CONSTITUTION:An integer type register group 12 is connected to an integer arithmetic device 10 through a data bus 15 and a real number type register group 13 is connected to a real number arithmetic device 11 through another data bus 18, and then, a type converter 14 is connected between the register group 12 and the arithmetic device 11. Moreover, the main storage 20 is connected to the register groups 12 and 13 and the arithmetic device 11 through another data bus 19. When integer type-real number type conversions are performed, values read out from the register group 12 are inputted to a shifter 21 of the converter 14, and normalized at an integer- real number convesion controlling section 22. The normalized values are added to the arithmetic device 11 by producing an exponent of a real number type expression in a counter 25 and a mantissa part in the shifter 21. When real number type-integer type conversion is made, the exponent of the operation result of the arithmetic device 11 is inputted to another counter 27 after it is converted at a real number-integer conversion controlling section 29, and the mantissa part is inputted to the shifter 28, and thus they are converted into integers. |
