PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance, in high yield, by the cultivation of microorganisms in a medium containing, as an effective nitrogen source, the cultured and hydrolyzed cells of bacteria belonging to Brevibacterium genus or Corynebacterium genus and capable of producing L-glutamic acid. CONSTITUTION:Cultured cells of bacteria belonging to Brevibacterium genus or Corynebacterium genus and capable of producing L-glutamic acid, e.g. Brevibacterium flavum ATCC 14067, Corynebacterium acetoacidophilum ATCC 13870, etc. are hydrolyzed with a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, etc. The hydrolyzed product is added as an effective nitrogen source to a liquid medium at a concentration of 50-200mg/dl, and bacteria belonging to Brevibacterium genus or Corynebacterium genus and capable of producing L-lysine are cultured in the medium obtained above. The liquid medium to which the hydrolyzed product is to be added may be a conventional medium, and the separation of L-lysine from the medium can be carried out by conventional means. |
