PURPOSE:To obtain a multichannel magnetic head that reduces the generation of heat, by preventing the magnetic flux leaking out of a gap part from passing through a gap plate which is put between the magnetic heads. CONSTITUTION:A gap plate 7 is divided into a pair of pieces 7a and 7b, and a space W is secured at the area opposite to a gap. The plate 7 is not opposite to the gap of the magnetic head, and thus the magnetic flux leaked out of the gap part never passes through the plate 7. As a result, no eddy current is produced to the plate 7, and accordingly, the generation of heat can be prevented. It is not always required to divide the plate 7 into two pieces, and the base end parts of the pieces 7a and 7b are connected together via a linkage part 7c. Then the space W can be secured at the area opposite to the gap part. |
