PURPOSE:To obtain a contact device which detects the amount of paper without using an optical sensor, etc., by exercising interlocking control over a means of feeding paper into a bin and a paper-amount detecting means mounted on the freely movable bind. CONSTITUTION:When the solenoid 60a of a specified bin 31a of a contact device is energized, a changeover pawl 33a and an arm 53, having a paper-amount detecting roller 50a atop, are brought under interlocking control through pins 63 and 62 of an arm 53. Then, the pawl 33a guides recording paper for copying to the bin 31a, and the roller 50a is put off the transportation path of the recording paper and stops where it is restrained by a magnet 57. When the recording paper is transported into the bin 31a and the solenoid 60a is turned off, the arm 53 turns by a prescribed angle by the elastic force of a spring 56 and the roller 50a presses recording paper mounted in the bin 31a closely and also detects the amount of the paper. This constitution which does not use any photosensor realizes a contact device for the detection of the paper amount free from erroneous detection due to paper-powder contamination, etc. |
