PURPOSE:To eliminate the limitation of the upper limit of furnace temps. and the deterioration of a strip during stoppage of a line by making an intermediate carriage mounted with an upper partition wall and a lower carriage mounted with an internal partition wall having a perpendicular wall on the bottom surface movable forward and backward respectively into and out from the line. CONSTITUTION:A steel plate strip (a) is charged into a vertical type continuous annealing furnace by properly moving an upper carriage 1 and an intermediate carriage 2. It is bypassed around a perpendicular wall 13 having jacketed water cooling pipes 14, and is heated and annealed by the caloric heat ejected from burners 18 and exhausted to an exhaust port 19. Since no hearth rollers are installed in a heating chamber III, there is no need for limiting the upper limit of furnace temps. Next, while the annealing line is not running or is pausing, the internal partition wall mounted on a lower carriage 4 is moved and the wall 13 is put into a retreat chamber. Thence, deflector pinch rolls 3 or 3' are operated to pull the bottom end of the strip (a) to the broken line position, following to which the carriage 4 is moved to reset the wall 13 to the home position. Since the strip (a) is in the prechamber II shut off from the chamber III, it will not deteriorate. |
