Image digital transmission circuit - samples image and transmits selected samples with restoration of omitted samples in receiver

The system has a transmitter which samples each image for transmission in a predetermined manner and retains only certain sampled values to provide a sub-sampling of the image. These retained values are coded and transmitted. The receiver has a decoder and device for retrieving the sampled values which also provides restored values corresponding to the transmitter discarded values, these being combinations of the received values. The retrieving device comprises a memory receiving decoded values and having V outputs providing for each restored value v sample values corresponding to the image points located in the spatial neighbourhood or time-space of the point to be restored. A restoring circuit with v inputs and p outputs is coupled to the memory. A selection circuit with p inputs coupled to the restoring circuit outputs is provided with output providing single restored value signal and a further circuit controlling operation of the selection circuit.
