The flowering cherry-tree - orunus subhirtella Fletan - has characteristics infallibly transmitted agamously, i.e. asexually. It has a gnarled trunk, with branches shooting upwards, with a high rate of lonq duration flowering. Resistance to cryptogamous diseases is very high. The flowers are of good consistency and semi-double, deep purple in colour and lasting on the average six days longer than those on other cherry-trees of the same type. The tree is propagated by successive grafting operations.
|
