NOVEL BICYCLOOCTANE DERIVATIVE, ITS SALT AND PREPARATION THEREOF

NEW MATERIAL:A bicyclooctane derivative expressed by formula I [R1, R2 and R3 are H or lower alkyl; X is ethylene or vinylene chain; Z and Z' are H or protecting groups of OH (e.g. acetyl, benzoyl or tetrahydropyranyl)]. EXAMPLE:2beta-(3'alpha-Hydroxy-trans-1'-octenyl)3alpha-hydroxy-7alpha- (3''-carboxy propoxy) cis-bicyclo[3.3.0]octane. USE:A remedy for ulcer with high chemical stability and slight side effects. PROCESS:A nitrile derivative expressed by formula II is hydrolyzed in a suitable solvent, and if necessary subjected to the esterification of the carboxylic acid, removal of the protecting group of the hydroxyl group or reduction of the vinylene chain to afford the compound expressed by formula I.
