<p>Pyrolysis of ligneous materials is effected by drying and carbonising the material and condensing the pyrolysis vapours. The improvement comprises partially revaporising part of the condensate and using the resulting vapour to supply the energy required to allow simultaneous prodn. of charcoal and fuels without an external heat supply. The ligneous material (e.g. wood) is fed into the dryer, where it is dried by contact with hot flue gas produced by combustion of carbonisation off-gas and revaporised pyrolysis condensate. The dried material is fed into the pyrolyser where it is carbonised by contact with hot flue gas produced by carbonisation off-gas.</p> |
