PURPOSE:To search the change in the quantity of heat input to a mold during casting by detecting the rates of elongation of long side blocks or the inclined angle displacements of short side blocks, and controlling cooling water in such a manner that the detected values thereof coincide with target rates of elongation or target inclined angle displacements. CONSTITUTION:In an assembled mold for continuous casting consisting of long side blocks 1 and short side blocks 2, noncontacting type displacement meters 3 are provided on both side end faces of the blocks 1 and angle of inclination detectors on the outside wall surfaces of the blocks. The rates of elongation of the blocks 1 detected by the meters 3 during pouring or the inclined angle displacements of the blocks 2 detected by the angle of inclination detectors are compared with respective target values in a comparator 7, and the differential signals thereof are outputted to cold water and hot water gains 9, 10 which in turn control at least one of the flow rate and temp. of cooling water for cooling the mold, whereby the change in the quantity of heat input to the mold is searched based on the product of the difference between the supply and discharge water temps. of the cooling water and flow rate. |
