<p>Phthalimides of formula (I) are new (where R1 is H and R2 is amino, butylamino, OH, OCH3, -OC2H5, n-propoxy or n-butoxy or R2 is H and R1 is amino or butylamino). 9 Cpds.are specifically claimed including 3-butylamino-beta-diethyl aminoethyl phthalimide and 3-nor-butoxy-beta- diethyl aminoethyl phthalimide. (I) are anti-arrythmic agents and local anaesthetics with superior activity to novesine and lidocaine. In an example a mixt. of 3-aminophthalic acid and N,N-diethyl ethylenediamine was heated at 170 deg.C for 60-90 minutes, and crystallised from petrol to give 3-amino-beta- diethylaminoethyl phthalimide (m.pt 64-66 deg.C, hydrochloride at 248-251 deg.C.).</p> |
