PURPOSE:To make the thicknesses of casting surface and solidified shells uniform, and considerably to reduce the formation of the recesses and cracks of the surface by coating oil to specific thicknesses from nozzles in two places and specifying the ratio between minimum thickness and maximum thickness in coating the oil on the inside surface of the mold of a rotary ring. CONSTITUTION:Sprays 9 are disposed in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction respectively with respect to the central axis of a rotary ring 11. At least one kind selected from oil, suspension of graphiote and amorphous carbon are coated on at least the bottom surface out of the inside surfaces of the mold of the ring 11 from the mozzzles of these sprays 9. The coating thicknesses are 0.005-0.02mm., wherein the ratio between the maximum and minimum thicknesses thereof is kept at 1- 0.4. Thence, molten steel 2 is charged into the mold space created by the ring 11 and a metallic belt, whereby an ingot 14 is produced. Thereby, the ingot 14 of superior surface quality is continuously produced. |
