A portable tool for machining pipe, particularly suited for forming an external circumferential groove adjacent the end of a plastic pipe section. A motor driven cutter is held pointed toward the axis of the pipe by guide and support rollers which are mounted on adjustable arms adapted to engage pipes of different diameters. One rotation of 360 DEG suffices to produce a completed groove.
