Tubular fabric mangle with airjet spreader - overfeeds fabric into spreader to counteract length extension

In the mangling of tubular fabric, whereby the wet fabric passes vertically upwards to the mangling rollers through an air-jet spreader, the fabric is fed to the spreader at a speed which is greater than the speed of the mangle, to relieve the weight of the wet fabric. The feed mechanism comprises a set of rollers or aprons with a high-friction surface covering which are driven at a speed which is continuously variable. This arrangement prevents distortion caused by the wt. of the wet fabric inducing considerable length extension.
