The armature (19) for a magnetically operated valve is tubular, with a resiliently supported valve member (1,9) inside each end. These are retained between a flange one end and a locking ring (11) the other end, with a moulded block (6) between them. This block is retained between the shoulder (3) of the flange and the locking ring. The valve member (1) at the shouldered end has a hollow funnel shaped ring (18) at its inner end, and the other valve member (9) has a domed head (7). The hollow ring and the domed head rest against respective end faces (15,17) of the fixed block, forming the resilient mounting. The opening (2) through the flanged end is smaller in diameter than the remainder of the hole (14) through the armature tube. A number of variations are based on this arrangement.
