Measurement of underground settling phenomena using borehole - contg. hose levelling instruments and leading to measurement chamber

An arrangement for measurement of settling phenomena in underground earth layers consists of a measurement borehole leading from a measurement chamber and placed transversely w.r.t the anticipated settling phenomenon, a measurement device in the borehole and an indicator in the chamber. The arrangement achieves a high degree of measurement accuracy at considerably reduced expense compared to conventional arrangements. It does not involve electrical or electronic equipment in the measurement borehole, which leads away from the chamber at an angle and contains a number of hose levelling instruments. The open ends of the hoses are distributed along the borehole length at measurement points. The other ends of the hoses are as in the indicator in the measurement chamber. The hoses may be mounted in a tube which is inserted into the borehole.
