PURPOSE:To obtain the titled printing wire at low cost with excellent antiwear property, by forming a metal nitride layer to a leading end surface of a metal wire of which an outer periphery of a leading end part is formed into a tapered shape by ion plating. CONSTITUTION:An outer periphery of a leading end part of a wire 12a made of 18-8 stainless steel is formed into tapered shape and, to a leading end surface of said tapered outer pheriphery, a titanium nitride layer 12b with a thickness of about 20mu is formed by the ion plating means. Because the printing wire 12 constituted as described above is made of 18-8 stainless steel, it has a hardness capable of withstanding impact of printing operation and oxidation resistance against an ink as well as, because the leading end part is coated by the titanium nitride layer 12b, it is excellent in antiwear property, of low cost and is easily processed. |
