Vehicle with extensible firing platform - allows movement of personnel into separate position clear of platform

The vehicle has an extensible platform for an observation and missile-firing device on the end of a boom extensible into the working position. When the platform (10) is in the extended position, the operating personnel can be moved into a protected position clear of it, typically in a cabin (14) travelling on guides from the platform to the body (2) of the vehicle, under gravity and with its descent controlled by brakes. The platform can be extensible in all directions, even horizontally, slewing on a vertical axis, and guided so that it always stays horizontal.
