The regulating circuit for the three phase supply (R,S,T) of a synchronous machine (1) includes a controlled rectifier (2) connected by a two section smoothing inductance (4) to a controlled inverter (5). The rectifier and inverter are formed by sets of thyristors. The second section (4b) of the inductance is bridged by a switch (6) which may be a thyristor. At rotary field speeds which are less than the minimum speed of rotation of the synchronous machine, this switch is closed to short out that section of the inductance. At higher rotary field speeds, the switch is opened. |
