The invention relates to an improved copier for exposing a colour copier paper and for producing copies. The copying process is carried out with a specific colour balance which is obtained by means of an intersection filter arrangement consisting of three intersection filters, namely a yellow filter, magenta filter and cyan filter, each of which is actuated by signals which are supplied by numerous colour photosensors. During the copying process, two light-beam flux reducing filters which are contained in the intersection filter arrangement are activated in an operating state in which the intensity of a light beam coming up from a light source is previously amplified to a specific value such that it corresponds to a negative colour film which has been overexposed during a photographic exposure. One of the light-beam flux reducing filters is moved into a light beam channel before a closure shutter is opened if it proves that the negative colour film has been normally exposed whilst the other light-beam flux reducing filter is moved into the light beam channel at the same time as the first if it proves that the negative colour film has been underexposed. As a result, rapid copying with minimum fluctuation of copying time is ensured and an extremely good colour balance is maintained irrespective of whether the negative colour film has been overexposed or underexposed during the photographic exposure.
