<p>The remote control system for a rotary valve has a housing (2) mounted on top of the valve casing (1), containing a fluid operated piston (4) which converts a sliding action into a rotary action. The piston is hollow, and contains a return spring, and its axis is horizontal and at right angles to the vertical valve spindle. The piston has a flat (9) underneath, resting on a plate (10) attached to the spindle. Offset to one side of the central vertical axis is a pin (17) attached to the piston, fitting into a radial slot in the plate. As the piston is pushed backwards, this pin pushes against the radial slot, so as to rotate the plate, which is secured by a pin (14) to the spindle, and the spindle is rotated.</p> |
