PURPOSE:To make switching speed higher by controlling the frequencies of transducers in an ultrasonic phase grating plane for the input light beams introduced into an acoustooptic material thin film formed on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:Bragg reflection is induced for the input light beams introduced through an optical waveguide 13 in an acoustooptic material thin film 11 formed on a substrate 10 by controlling the frequencies of ultrasonic transducers 14, 15 in an ultrasonic phase grating plane formed by the ultrasonic standing waves from the transducers advancing in the thin film 11. With such constitution, in order that arbitrarily selected one input light beam is made arbitrarily selected one light beam output, both are connected to each other by selectively generating respectively prescribed frequencies from the transducers 14, 15, whereby the changeover switching is made higher in speed. |
