PURPOSE:To obtain a stable interative transient arc and perform electric discharge machining work, by using an electrode of iron material, procurable at low cost of the raw material and easy to manufacture, through the method of applying the magnetic field to said electrode. CONSTITUTION:A tool electrode 6 and machined electrode 7 are placed in a liquid tank 4 of dielectric liquid 3 and set to a position in a fine gap, then to said both electrodes an iterative transient arc is applied by a machining power source 5 to perform electric discharge machining work. Magnetic material of polishing steel or the l ike is used for the tool electrode 6, to which a magnetizing coil 2 is wound, then an electric current is allowed to flow in the coil by a coil power source 1 to magnetize said electrode. |
