WHEEL VELOCITY SENSOR

PURPOSE:To make a wheel velocity sensor for automobiles smaller and lighter along with a short life free from electromagnetically induced noises by interrupting the light of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:A rotary disc 5 is connected at the free end of a shaft 2 rotating according to the rotational speed of a wheel and rotates in a casing 4. An optical fiber 7 with one end thereof connected to a light source 6 is introduced to a casing and light reaches a photoelectrical conversion element 8 through fibers 7, 71 and 72, 91 and 92 indicates a reflection optical system. Light is conducted when optical fibers 72 and 71 face the photoelectric conversion element 8 and converted into an electrical signal which reaches a light signal processing unit 10. One pulse is outputted at each rotation of the disc 5 to compute the wheel velocity which is indicated on an indicator 11.
