PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength and to obviate degradation in transmission characteristics by containing and fixing optical fiber connecting parts by way of an adhesive agent into between a reinforcing body provided with deep grooves for containing the covering layers of optical fibers and a shallow groove for containing fiber strands and a cover. CONSTITUTION:A covering resin 18 such as silicone resin is flowed into the central part of a body 11 supported level, and connecting parts of optical fibers are contained therein in such a way that fiber strands 14 are positioned in a shallow groove 19 and covering layers 15 are positioned in deep grooves 17, after which a cover 12 is turned to be put on the body 11. At this time, the excess of the resin 18 interposed around the fiber strands is discharged to the outside through withdrawal holes 22. The layers 15 are fixed by the gnawing of projections 23. An alpha cyanoacrylic adhesive agent 16 is injected through the clearances between the side ends of the body 11 and the cover 12 and the layers 15 and is allowed to set. Thereby, the degration in transmission characteristics is obviated and mechanical strength is improved. |
