PURPOSE:To automatically calculate the total number of rice particles and the number of cracked particles by detecting the light and shade of rice particles generated by a transmitting light through the particles passing a light transmitting window and the passage time thereof. CONSTITUTION:A reference brightness A is set for a setting device 19 provided on a counter circuit 11 for counting the number of particles and an optionally specified brightness B is set for a setting device 24 provided on a counter circuit 12 for counting cracked particles. When rice particles are dumped into a feeding hopper 5, they passes a light transmitting window 7 with the vibration of a vibrator 2. The rice particles are irradiated from the light source 8 and the light and shade thereof is detected with a photodetecting element 9 and inputted to the counter circuits 11 and 12. The counter 11 compares 18 the signal from the element 9 with the signal of the reference brightness A whereby the total number of rice particles (aligned particles, crushed particles, split particles, unripened rice and dead rice). The counter 12 for cracked particles compares the detection signal from the element 9 with the signal of the reference brightness B whereby the total number of the rice particles (aligned particles, cracked particles, unripened rice and dead rice) matching the brightness B. When detecting split particles mixed into the bran-cleared particles, it can be performed simply by switching over the value of the given brightness. |
