PURPOSE:To obtain a high-purity gas by removing a diene, oxygen and a sulfur compd. from a coke oven gas, from which a polymer produced from NO and an org. compd. has been removed, by contact with a hydrodesulfurization catalyst under a specified condition. CONSTITUTION:Coke oven gas obtd. from coal carbonization gas is heated to 60- 150 deg.C and pressurized to 5-50kg/cm<2> and, after NOX and a diene are polymerized and removed, separated from an org. compd. such as benzene, toluene or xylene by washing with a absorbent oil such as gas oil. Then a minute amt. of residual diene, oxygen and sulfide in said coke oven gas is selectively hydrogenated by bringing the gas into contact with a hydrogenation catalyst such as Ni-base or CoMo-base catalyst at a pressure from normal pressure to 50kg/cm<2> at 100-500 deg.C. |
