METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MEASURING AVERAGE HUMIDITY

PURPOSE:To obtain average humidity based on the decoloring length of a moisture absorbent and the average temperature without use of power and eliminating complicated calculation. CONSTITUTION:While a measuring unit is left alone in the air, the moisture in the air is allowed to pass through a drafting member 2 and absorbed by a moisture absorbent 3 until it turns red. When the absorbent 3 is set in the air for a fixed period, the moisture absorbent 5 absorbs moisture so gradually as to indicate an integrated moisture absorption by the discoloring length. A scale 5 indicates the integrated moisture absorption. The discoloring length is proportional to absolute humidity. With a maximum/minimum thermometer and an integrating hygrometer set at the same place, the average temperature is found by obtaining the average value between the maximum and minimum temperatures. The average humidity is determined based on the discoloring length and the average temperature in a calibration curve diagram which includes the average humidity with a self-recording hygrometer.
