1378714 Reinforced polymeric hose INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 4 Feb 1972 [16 Feb 1971] 5284/72 Heading F2P A flexible polymeric hose incorporates at least two layers of reinforcement separated by an interlayer of polymer impregnated non-woven fabric. The fabric is of the "soft" kind wherein natural or synthetic textile fibres are joined by welding or adhesive at their crossing-points so as to have relatively large interspaces between the fibres to allow penetration of polymer therein (e.g. during calendering). In a process for making such a hose a polymeric inner tube is covered by reinforcement layers, the reinforcement layers being separated by a "soft" non-woven fabric impregnated with the same polymer, and the outer layer of reinforcement being covered with the same or a different polymer. The hose is preferably vulcanized after completion, the interlayer being stated to maintain the separation of the reinforcement layers under the high vulcanizing pressure. The reinforcements may be spirally wrapped or braided. The polymer may be an elastomer or plastomer and may be bonded to the fabric by suitable adhesive. |
