PURPOSE:To attain an accurate and assured return of a distributor of a collator for a copier to its home position by constituting the collator such that the distributor is returned to its home position in response to a signal representing that a copy has been put into the farthest bin of the collator after lapse of a preset time to a timer. CONSTITUTION:In a collator of a hybrid type, a timer 35 is started upon detection of a final copy with a predetermined bin ingress switch 102, the preset time to the timer 35 is such that a distributor switch 133 still remains on at the twentieth bin position. Accordingly, when the number of copies is 20, the distributor begins its returning motion in response to turning off of the distributor switch 133 so as to complete its returning motion sufficiently before a subsequent discharging operation for third copies of a next original document. When the number of copies is less than 20, the distributor is caused to begin its returning operation to its home position immediately after lapse of the timer preset time so that is can return to its home position early enough. The accuracy of the timer may be designed within such a range that the distributor may move one step by one step of the timer. |
