PURPOSE:To obtain title resin, which is flexible and leaves a minute amount of formaldehyde in the processed cloth, by the reaction of a substituted urea compound with formaldehyde and glyoxal, followed by the methylation of the hydroxyl group. CONSTITUTION:A substituted urea compound of formula I and/or II, of MW 100- 1000 or its mixture with urea, (A), is reacted with formaldehyde (B) and glyoxal (C). Then the hydroxyl group in the hydroxyl group-containing resin produced, is partially or entirely methylated with addition of methanol. In said urea compound (A), the repeating organic group unit alpha and/or beta, is present in 10-80%, and said three components are reacted in such proportions that the ratio of the equivalent number of the active hydrogen atom bonded to the nitrogen atom in (A), to the total equivalent number of each-CHO group in (B) and (C), is 1/0.8- 1/1.5. |
