PURPOSE:To enable to measure continuously contents of ingredients of ash by measuring a basis weight by a transmission and absorption of limitting line and solving prescribed plural linear simultaneous equations by use of specified wavelengths of limitting lines which have large absorption coefficients which are specific to each components of the ash of the paper. CONSTITUTION:Basis weights B0, B1 etc. are measured by transmission and absorption obtained by changing successively specified wavelengths lambda0, lambda1 and so on of limitting lines which have large absorption coefficients and are specific to each components A1, A2 and so on of the ash of the paper. Then, component A1 etc. are decided by solving simultaneous equations (I). According to this method, each components of the ash of the paper are measured continuously and automatically without using a standard sample. In the equation (I) lambda0 is a wavelength for a fiber and water, F and M are contents of water and fiber, and C0, C1 and so on are constants. |
