PURPOSE:To obtain a vertical magnetic recording head that has a high wear resistance and can be miniaturized, by holding the head material between the hard materials. CONSTITUTION:A head material 3 is provided to at least one of a pair of head base materials 1 and 2 made of a hard material, and the materials 1 and 2 are bonded together with an adhesive. A coil 4 is provided around the bonded materials. A hard single crystal such as sapphire, ruby, etc. or a nonoxide material having a high melting point and high hardness such as SiC, WC, B4C, etc. is used for the hard material used for the head base material. The material 3 is obtained by forming an 81Ni-Fe thin film used for a thin film head, etc. on the base material by the vapor deposition or sputtering process or adhering a magnetic material used for a head and having a certain thickness to the head base material with an adhesive and then reducing the thickness down to about 10-1mum by polishing. |
