The dog latrine is placed at selected locations in order to reduce fouling of public places by dog excrement. The latrine uses a horizontal belt on which excrement is deposited. The belt is periodically advanced and the fouled part cleaned in a chemical bath which decomposes the excrement to a safe liquid which can be let flow through curb side gutters. The latrine is housed between low walls (1,3) with one side (25) higher for male dogs. The continuous main belt (16) runs on two rollers (14,15) one of which (14) is a belt (22) driven by an electric motor (19). The lower side (18) of the main belt loop passes through a chemical bath (7) with brushes (26) rubbing on the belt. An overflow tube allows the purified liquid to flow out of the bath.
