<p>The assembly has a number of bars folded at right angles to form a loop. Some bars have the loop formed in the centre and have equal ends, and others have the loop formed towards one end. The straight ends of the bars are cast into a brittle material such as a compressed sawdust block (2) which is fixed to the shutter inside so that the loops are cast in the first pour of concrete (3). When the shutter is stripped, material is easily broken away to reveal bar ends (4) which are straightened and fixed to the reinforcement in the adjacent concrete bay.</p> |
