<p>The element consists of refractory bricks or a refractory mass located between a foot beam and a roof beam. In a cavity in the element are tie rods, which join the foot beam to the rook beam; and one end of each tie-rod is provided with a stack of cup springs and a threaded zone carrying a nut, so the tie-rods can be prestressed. Because the force exerted by the tie rods on the element can be adjusted by the nuts, the refractory- bricks or -mass is not subjected to excessive stress during transport or when the elements are in use in the kiln. In the kiln, the wall elements can be mounted on pedestals permitting access to the adjusting nuts.</p> |
